The Powerlessness of Your Mother's Silence
In the story, you write a brilliant sentence that I just want to unpack with you for a minute. You say that when mom was mad, violence was common, but it hurt less than the power she had with her silence. So this little girl knows powerlessness like in her veins and arteries. She would have welcomed the pushing up against me, even though torturous, because it says something about I exist.
