The Effect of Technology and Automation on Income Inequality in the US
A lot of the phenomena that Eastbound described in Europe are quite similar in the United States. It's not that technology and automation have had no effect on rising income inequality it's more that the effect is smaller than worker power related to later market institutions like unions, he says. The minimum wage set at the national level is effectively binding in some states with the lowest incomes who refuse to set higher minimum wages on their own or block localities within their jurisdictions from raising the minimum wage.
