The Limit of Good Things Is Easy to Achieve
Epicurus' hope is that bringing this into the awareness of our wisdom we can see how these apparent pleasures will turn into pains or carry pains with them. Out of the same desire that actually drives mankind the desire to seek to expand the limits of our own pleasures we will paradoxically begin to naturally seek after a simpler life with less Dependencies and Less costs to ourselves or to our own health Epicurus elaborates upon this in his letter to Menocius where he writes quote prudence is the principle of all these things and is the greatest good.
