Sally Kohn: We need to learn to negate that period of guilt and shame that we put ourselves through. If it's helping somebody or, you know, I think I do have the capacity or the whatever it is, the time, the energy, sometimes the money to help. She says she will often say, I can't come to that thing or thank you for inviting me, but I'm not going to make the party because I'll be tortured by the thought of it on that day. "I guess it is just a check in every day, like, where are my energy levels? Can I give any more than I'm giving today?" said Kohn.
