The History of Barbette

Barbet became a favorite at the Mulan Rouge, another high profile theaters in Paris. Barbette was aware of how exacting and fastidious he was in his work and his life. By the time Barbette returned as an act to the US in the late 1920s, he was famous. He always felt like France was his home; having chosen a name that sounded French had made French audiences kind of feel like he was one of their own.
