Pastors Don't Want to Split a Church

There seems to be a resurgence for this idea of elders. Pastors, wisely, don't want to split a church. The practice of it, i think, was always pretty rare. We had people who functioned as s, but as a distinct office. Did disciples? Did christian churches have elders? So of our listeners will know, i don't think so.
