The Importance of Direct Sector Experience in Search Funds

The easiest, easiest type of deal to support is someone who has direct sector experience. From a Search Fund perspective, the large equity check is a big tick. But that's not the reason that we should be lending money. We shouldn't be lending money just because other people are happy to invest. So with Search Fund candidates, what I tend to see is how they can personally add value to the business.
