Using X Rays to Work Out the Structure of the Fibers in Wool
Asper asbury used x rays to work out the structure of wool fibres. He discovered that some proteins are folded up into very precise shapes. This discovery led to the production of ardill, a material derived from unfolding proteins from peanuts which could be used as a wool alternative.
