Iceberg is effectively S3 on top of the query engine spark. It's a layer that kind of sits in between and says, you know, okay, I'm going to talk to this blob or file. The goal of iceberg is to make this look as much like a database as you can. Snowflake uses it because they can also assume an equal level of SQL support for customers.
