The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is a 600,000 square foot swirl of plastic trash in the middle of the ocean. The patch has become a thriving ecosystem supporting dozens of creatures that normally live on the coast. That's millions of animals that looked at where we live, looked at the trash pile, and said, trash pile. They love the swirling plastic. Although it's kind of exciting to think about, but it's really just small animals, barnacles and anemones.
