What Are the Key Technologies That Have Transformed Political Communication?
The telephone and the telegraph were widely used in society, but not really picked up by political actors. Because they were one to one sources of communication for most of history and expensive, they were not very efficient or effective choices for most political groups. It has to do with what is useful for regular everyday people and what might be different in terms of utility or perceived utility for political organizations or political actors.
