The Manhattan books have the strategy where the notes you take are not for you to use afterwards. One of the things that I used at least at the start of my prep was a third party mock tests because they often had really good diagnostic tools so that was a really good way for me to help along the way with figuring out what things I was struggling with and what kind of questions I was taking a long time solving.
