Is Consciousness Hard to Understand?
A lot of lay people think that somehow consciousness resists explanation in the same way that other features of the world sthat can be explained. In me, i think one of these questions is much easier than the other. The fact that consciousness is hard to understand is the least surprising thing in the world to me. And so, you know, if there's any apparent incompatibility between understanding of fundamental physics and or understanding of consciousness, we shouldn't be too tempted to change the part we understand really, really well.
