The Importance of Motivation in Leaving Bureaucracy

Michael Wolraich: We really are at a point where bureaucracy has to die. If we achieve these gains over the next decade across the OECD, it would double the recent productivity growth rates and probably is a bigger productivity dividend than any other policy initiative on the horizon. But first of all, you have to have motivation. And in most organizations, nobody is measuring bureaucratic drag or what we call burosclerosis. So that said, I think if you want to make this shift and I'll kind of lay it out in blocks.
