The Great British Landscape
Some of the works on the show are actually quite archival. We see like all these archival footage or photographs which document the 19 32 mass trespass of young communists and other ramblers. Other things are perhaps more indirectly related to to rambling, but nevertheless show how the rural landscape has been displayed of contested power. Near the end of the exhibition, visitors are led into a bright white room filled with plants, agricultural implements and general bric a brac all meticulously numbered. This is ruth ewens back to the fields. And its ordered view of nature is one which emerges from the french revolution.
