The Importance of the Text in the History of Israel

Jewish children started going through the text and memorizing it from age 5. It was the absolute center of their lives. Alexander the Great comes into power and he starts spreading this culture of Hellenism. And so we see these five different responses to Hellenism, which is a response to what Alexander the Great is doing in the world.
