Inflationary environment as opposed to gold, which has only risen. It's very similar to what happened in the 1970s. Gold traded sideways for a number of years despite having inflation that started on 3s, 4s, and 5%, et cetera. If you're looking to participate in the commodity price, if you think the price of gold is going up, there's no better way to do that than buying bar or buying physically backed gold ETF. The two are not necessarily correlated but people have their favorite ways of investing.
