In the united states, power seems to be concentrated in the white house. This then makes any possibility of legislative comedy just impossible. I think what that teaches us is that institutions are not enough. There has to be comety between friends and enemies. You can't operate a political system wit a premise of friendship. But i fear it's going to take some calamity to wake us all up.

Michael Ignatieff, a renowned author and academic, is the former Leader of Canada’s Liberal Party. While Ignatieff was serving as Rector of Central European University, the university was pushed out of Budapest by the Hungarian government.
