Why Did Technology Stop?

In the twentieth century, there has been this extraordinary period where huge leaps have been made in technology. And then from about 19 50, certainly up until about 19 70, there were huge projections of what was going to be possible. The question is, why did it stop? Why did technology, a innovation, and more the dissemination of technology, stop? We need to get back on the anotechnology train to enable more progress.
