The original version reached number 13 on the am b chart in the fall of 92 and barely cracked the hot 100. New jack swing producer teddy riley had the idea to place the songs vocals over a lush sample of michael jackson's 19 83 hit, human nature. The track re entered both charts, eventually reaching number two pop number one. It foreshadowed maria carey's future as a remix queen.
