Do You Think the United States Still Needs to Atone?

i'm living in a former colony right now, and this was not alls. This used to be part of mexico, as you see the naming of the cities,. Where do you think texas comes from? These were not always american territories. But we've tried to carve out, we've decided to carve out there are few peoples that you can hate for some reason. Do we now think there's reason to cheer the death of american heads of state because of the san the the mexican American war? I don't know if i would want to live in such a place but it just seems like an odd way to look at things.
