Captain cassono's plan came to an end when he apparently had a nervous eakdown. But like in a horror movie, the killer keeps coming back, no matter how many times we put him down. And there was still danger, because the japanese needed to get their officials in contact with mc arthur's forces and that meant a preliminary face to face meeting. An elaborate secret plan had therefore been concocted for the flight. This plan involved changing planes, going out of their way to avoid comacasi fighters with decoy planes going in another direction - but they made it without incident.
