When discipline of punish comes out he doesn't engage with the present moment in an explicit way, I mean it has got that famous line of you know this is a history of the present but it is of a very much an earlier historical period. By the time the book comes out so it's finished in August 74 and it comes out in early 75, UCO's already thinking about the next project which is really the history of sexuality. He didn't want it to seem like it was an instrumental, oh you only got involved in the prison activist I hope he could write a book on the prison, so clearly there's a detachment there.
