When i started my first job at yale in 19 76, the yale department saw itself as divided between the analytic philosophers. And what it was to be a pluralist was to be anything but an analytic philosopher. There may still be some sense that we don't understand well enough, bhat the relationship between contemporary systematic philosophy and the history of philosophy. But i believe that we can find not only a terrific story of how or temporary projects got started, but we can find ideas that were developed, but not completely followed through,. by russell, by fraga, by others.
