The History of the Habsburg Empire

The Habsburgs were the undisputed paramount power in Eastern and Central Europe. They controlled the largest amount of territory of any European power, but this complicated political status made their territory much harder to govern than any of the other powers. In 18th century Austria was an old power having trouble changing with the times; they didn't give in to decline.
