"My gift of the pips came with only one obligation. If any of the recipients did manage to grow the pips into seedlings, then saplings, then at last into fruiting trees," he writes. "When the first crop of apples came on those trees, a dozen or so years into the future, they should gather that fruit and harvest its pips." In this way, it seemed to me much as Roger's work had grown and branched since his death, so this action might slowly create a world-wide Wildwood of memory trees".
