It was unpopular with some people who worked for Disney, which is a massive part of the Florida economy. They were very upset initially with the Disney management and chief executive Bob Iger when they realised that they were funding politicians whom they disagreed with. Some backed the bill, and they hit back within the organisation, and it created an enormous fuss.
