The Role of Organizational Violence in the New Deal Order
The New Deal that we remember is from the late 30s and early 40s. It's a product of the labor uprising which was central to politics in the 1930s. What's interesting about the 1930s is not just the great crash, but even after the crash, Roosevelt comes into office four years into the crash. He's more pro worker, more pro labor than his predecessor, Herbert Hoover,. or Republican, but he's also suspicious of labor.
