Is There Any Talent in Mathematics?

Lokhart uses in this essay some discussions between two fictional figures one of them is called simplicchio and the other one salviati you can guess which one's supposed to be the smart one. lokhart: We as a culture don't know what mathematics is but people actually think they do know what math is about and are apparently under the gross misconception that mathematics is somehow useful to society. i'd like to object slightly to the idea of no real mathematics talent because i've just spent a hell of a long time trying to explain why talent is probably a bit of an overrated concept.
