In a contemporary you cannot like just kill off the first wife by an evil you know, bad guy and then have right this new wife feel like no, right? I mean you can't and that's it. In historicals there's just so much more room for it to be like something really super duper over the top. The very final line of the chapter is like just perfect like Enough to make you in again. It's the last line sells the next book Right. These are the moments that we remember because as readers they're the moments that like hardwired themselves Into our brains and made us turn the page.
