What Are the Arguments for a Global Flood?

Conventional geology explains six key pieces of evidence for a global flood. What arguments should we consider against the idea of there being eighth global flood? There are several, and we can put them into broad categories. Let's look at the geologic record. What do people argue points away from the idea of a global flood? We won't be able to go into all the types of geological evidence that convinced manstream geologists that there was no global flood. But we will look at one aspect of the geological record that's fairly easy to understand, even for non specialists.
