They say we must accept the necessity of social control for the transition period while safeguarding against longer term losses of freedom. The more there can be a general understanding of the transitory, but inescapable nature of this need, the higher will be the likelihood that a more permanent authoritarian regime can be avoided. But further, an argument liit it might be inevitable.
