Advancements in Reducing Spinal Cord Ischemia Risk in Surgeries

This chapter explores the evolution of approaches to minimize spinal cord ischemia risk during surgeries from 1990 to the present, emphasizing the advancements that have decreased the risk to around 5-6% in leading institutions. It discusses the application of validated therapies in surgical and anesthesia practices for reducing the risk associated with type 2 aneurysms, highlighting the importance of physiologic strategies, spinal fluid drainage, and hypothermia in ensuring successful outcomes.
