William faulkner added the u to his own name, ye himself. He also said that he wrote as i lay dying, in six weeks and didn't change a word. The story goes as that he was writing it on, like, the night shift for whatever power plant job he had. His mother and grandmother are credited with instilling in him a love of reading.
