i. Hoped i was lucky, because that was part of rationalizing gambling. Luck is a huge part of the story in sport and in life. I don't think of luck as being some sort of external force in the universe. Some people are lucky, some aren't; we go through lucky streaks and unlucky streaks. And what are the consequences of believing the difference between success and failure at a high level is often capricious?
