For many modern Bible readers, especially Paul's letters, those are the places we go to sort of generate our spirituality. So it's very easy for me to imagine Paul is writing to me and he's talking about his struggle in being Christian. And that immediate sense of familiarity, I think, is a real problem. Don't let it get away.
