Simmons' book reads like a particularly bad D&D source book written by a racist. The first two thirds or so of the clarin are made up of frustrating stupid rituals. Then at the end of the book, Simmons wrote a lecture in which he describes the South prior to the rise of the first clan. "I would have been a pretty good clan later back in the day"
