Some people argue that chat GPT and these generative AI tools is going to be able to replace a ton of teachers and doctors. I think it's harder to know what's actually going to happen right and how work will change. There are potentials in those technologies to make education better maybe there are potentials that you know will help poor performing students, for example. But it seems very unlikely at least to me given the limits of these technologies that they'll actually being able to replace classes and replace teachers.
Paris Marx is joined by Aaron Benanav to discuss OpenAI’s claims that generative AI will take our jobs, how previous periods of automation hype haven’t resulted in mass job loss, and why we need to ensure it doesn’t further empower employers.
