The Importance of Reading the Book

The aim of this course is to get you to read this book. And to do it as well as you can in Mark's own terms, which may sound a bit ridiculous because since you haven't read the book, you won't know exactly what his terms are. So it's an engagement between you and this book, you and this text that I want to encourage. In doing that, however, there is a complication, which arises from the fact that it's very hard to approach this without some preconceived ideas.
