The Death of Publius Crassus

The defeat at Kerry solidified in the minds of most Romans that it was a folly to try and expand further east. Many had opposed Crassus' mission to begin with, and took the loss as proof that Rome ought to stick near the Mediterranean. Caesar Augustus spent a great deal of diplomatic time and energy trying to recover the captured eagles from the Parthians. When he finally got them back, the reaction in Rome was the same as if he had actually won a great battle.
