The media is a vital component of our overall emergency management system. Samantha says that the news media is also amplifying organizations collecting donations and shining a light on how their response is going. However, so the media loves to cover a disaster during the response and then they go away. And so we really need those national news outlets to be covering those recoveries into the long term.
