How to Come Off an Antidepressant Safely

There's very little financial incentive for pharmaceutical companies to sponsor studies on what happens when the drugs are stopped. "The system is set up in such a way that that kind of behavior is rewarded," he says. There are really three broad principles to coming off antidepressants: slowly, over months and sometimes more than a year.
