The Mechanism of Communication in Ants

Ants use a chemical called Dymethal pyrazine to create an alarm pheromone. If it's released in a new nest ants will avoid it, but if it's released within their own nest they'll mount a defence. The next step is to synthesise the chemical and simulate a mass attack without actually having to remove ants at all. It can just as rapidly disseminate information for our society like phone or email.
