The Benefits of Tracing a Request Lifecycle

Open telemetry aims to create a standard for telemetry uses and instrumentation that is industry wide. So if you can't find an open telemetry semantic convention to describe a data point that you want to log, it doesn't necessarily mean you shouldn't log it. But it might be a good time to ask yourself the question of whether or not you should log it with a metric or perhaps a trace instead. And I'm sure Alex that you have thoughts on this as well.
