New elections were held in october of 18 16 that brought a new batch of deputies. Many voters who had abstained the first time around showed up in force. But more than anything, electors thought a little bit harder about the men they were voting for. A new group of constitutional monarchists swelled the ranks of the chamber of deputies. Only 90 of the 238 deputies could reasonably call an ultra. The rest were there to make a go of it on the terms of the charter.
