A lot of people in China believe it goes back to NUWA. A woman named NUWA was the creator of humans. She lived in the mountains with her brother since she was born all day. But one day the fire god and water god get into this huge fight. They destroy the tallest mountain on earth, which is said to be holding up the sky. So now the sky is coming down, crashing down on humans,. Almost killing all of NUWA's children. Her human population has dwindled down. And her brother told her, we need to repopulate this earth. The flames intertwined into a yin and yin shape.
