What Is the Oscar Wilde's Phenomenology of the Consumer?
T.S. Elliot wrote a thing called notes towards a definition of culture. He says, all the great civilizations grew out of a religion. To have a culture that's going to sustain beauty and art and real culture, you need a kind of unified religion. And he looks at the modern world - we're in trouble because we don't have a unified culture. This was like right before World War II. People were turning towards fascism and communism. But I think liberal democratic capitalism won. It's still not totally won but it's winning. And there is the possibility of great art, culture, and lifestyles in that.
