Russia's Strategy Is Devolving Into a War of Attrition
Russia's aim was to envelop ucranian forces in donbas and attack them from the rear. Now if it tried to do that, it would risk exposing its own flanks. The gamble is that Russia can wear down the ukranian army quicker than they can stay militarily solvent with western arms and man power. So we really are in for a long fight, and i don't think it is necessarily one that favours the cremlin.
