The 1960s sucked for bread commercially, but it was also the time of good breads rebirth. The country's first Zen Buddhist monastery was created in California in the late 60s. Making your own sourdough bread at home became part of the counterculture and a way to eat healthier. Between them, these two groups helped create the sourdough revolution.
