Is There Really a Need for a Guarantee Like This?
It's a big if that it goes through though, isn't it? I mean, what is it clear that the Treasury has the authority to make an emergency move like this? The opposition to this would say, hang on, if you put such a big guarantee under the deposits of all the banks in America, that is an enormous moral hazard.
